TRANSIT:KL Distillation Big Data Week 2014 - Photo Review
Paraphrasing the words of it's founder and chief organizer, Warren Tan, TRANSIT is an event which brings people of different worlds together which no other events would. It is a mishmash of food, music, ideas, technology and start-ups. TRANSIT is all about creating such a space to encourage collaboration, exploration and serendipity.
This year, I had the privilege to attend and be the official photographer for the event, which happened on May 5th, 2014 at PJ Trade Center, Damansara Perdana.
Here's a short photo review of the event all taken with my Fujifilm X-M1, with the following lenses: Samyang 8mm fisheye, Fujinon XF 18mm, XF 35mm and XC 50-230mm. Oh yes, along with my Fujifilm EF-42 flash too.
This year's KL Transit is actually a kick-off of Kuala Lumpur's Big Data Week line of events which is organized by MDEC. Before I continue, perhaps it may be a good idea to give a little background about what Big Data Week is all about.
And the exhibitor that brought their own Harley's!
DEBUTs, as defined by TRANSIT, are a discipline-agnostic time for individual(s) to share something new. Whether it’s a new business idea, some music, or even a new community.
Each debutant are given about 2 minutes to speak about themselves.
I personally found Epic Army the most interesting Debutant, as TRANSIT provided them a platform to share, even though they are not for profit to share a great cause for Malaysia.
Skyward came first and gave the crowd two of their songs. Being a local budding artists, I found their music quite pleasant.
Mile High Sounds came next, with a talk on how brands sound like and also with their DJs to continue to music all through the night.
To wrap up this review, this year's TRANSIT had about 300 attendees, which is a growing number from all the previous events. Entrance is free (but online registration required), it is opened for all to come and enjoy. If you are interested come or to sign up as a Debutant for the next event, you can always contact them here: https://www.facebook.com/TRANSIT.KL.
See you at the next TRANSIT!
